- 전쟁반대 평화실현을 위한 기도회 최근 남북 간의 대화 단절과 개성공단의 중단 등 한반도의 위기 상황이 지속되고 있는 상황에서, 본회 화해통일위원회를 포함하여 10여개의 기독교 단체들이 4월 22일(월) 오후 7시, 세종문화회관 계단에서 ‘전쟁반대 평화실현을 위한 기도회’를 개최하였습니다. 이 기도회는 이 적 목사(민통선평화교회)의 ‘여는 시’ 낭송으로 시작되었으며, 한반도의 평화와 안정을 위한 간절한 기도가 이어졌습니다. 조헌정 목사(본회 화해통일위원회 위원장)는 설교에서 “7.4남북합의서와 6.15공동선언과 10.4정상선언의 정신에 따라 상대를 존중하고 대화를 해야 한다”는 입장을 강요하였습니다. 배태진 목사(한국기독교장로회 총무)와 노정선 명예교수(연세대)는 한반도의 평화와 화해를 위한 발언을 하였습니다. 마지막 순서로 정상복 목사(감리교정의평화위원회 위원장)의 축도로 마무리를 하였으며, 약 120여명이 참석하여 한반도의 진정한 평화를 기원하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 이날 행사에서 ‘결단의 고백’ 시간에 발표된 한반도 평화실현을 위한 우리의 기도는 아래와 같습니다. 결단의 고백 - 한반도 평화실현을 위한 우리의 기도 - "나는 너희에게 평화를 주고 간다. 내 평화를 너희에게 주는 것이다. 내가 주는 평화는 세상이주는 평화와는 다르다. 걱정하거나 두려워하지 마라. (요한복음 14:27) 우리가 지금 서있는 이 땅 한반도는 전 세계에서 단 하나뿐인 분단국입니다. 일제의 억압과 고통에서 벗어나 해방을 이룬 그 때, 그 기쁨도 잠시였습니다. 극한 이념의 대립과 갈등, 외세의 개입, 전쟁 그리고 정전협정! 분단으로 인한 슬픔과 아픔의 역사가 60년이 넘게 계속되고 있습니다. 우리의 뜻과는 전혀 무관하게 남과 북으로 분단되어 한 민족이 둘로 나뉘어져 살아가고 있습니다. 하나님의 한없는 축복과 평화가 가득한 이 땅 차별과 소외가 없는 이 땅 가진 자와 가지지 못한 자의 구분이 아니라 이제는 서로 나눔이 가득한 이 땅 그 누구의 참견과 간섭에서도 하나님의 돌보심이 있는 이 땅 우리는 하나님의 나라가 이 땅에서 하루 속히 이루어지기를 기도합니다. 하나님! 지금 한반도에 다시금 전쟁의 위기가 찾아왔습니다. 남과 북이 하나가 되기 위해 노력했던 많은 시간과 노력들이 한 순간에 무너지게 되는 이 현실이 너무 가슴이 아픕니다. 평화의 주 하나님! 우리는 간절히 기도합니다. 한반도에 엄습한 전쟁의 위기가 물러가고 평화로운 한반도가 되기를 간절히 원합니다. 서로에게 총을 겨누는 역사가 결코 다시는 반복되지 않게 하시고, 위기의 상황에서 대화하게 하시고 지혜로운 방법으로 남과 북이 서로 화해와 상생할 수 있도록 우리에게 은혜를 베푸소서. 화해의 주 하나님! 우리는 간절히 기도합니다. 남과 북이 서로를 적대하는 마음을 접고, 서로 화해하고 사랑하는 귀한 날을 속히 허락하소서. 우리는 한 형제요. 한 자매임을 깨달게 하소서. 서로를 용서하지 못하고 미워했던 지난 날 들을 회개합니다. 우리 민족에게 한없는 지혜를 베푸셔서, 화해를 통한 하나님의 나라를 이 땅 가운데 실현할 수 있는 남과 북이 되게 하여 주옵소서. 소망의 주 하나님! 우리는 간절히 기도합니다. 지난 60여 년간 우리는 둘로 나뉜 채 하나가 되지 못했습니다. 주님! 우리를 도우셔서 정전협정이 폐기되고 한반도의 평화체제 형성을 위해 평화협정이 체결되기를 간절히 소망하나이다. 이제는 둘이 하나가 되는 역사를 우리에게 속히 허락하소서. 나아가 우리 스스로가 한반도의 평화를 이루고, 하나님의 나라가 온전히 임하는 축복을 누릴 수 있게 하옵소서. 남과 북이 평화를 이루어 통일이 되는 그날까지 주님 나라 위해 우리를 사용하여 주옵소서. - Palestine Network
- PALESTINE NETWORK For a long time the political and thus the humanitarian situation in Palestine has been a matter of interest for only a few Christian churches within Korea. Fortunately this situation has changed during the last couple of years. A crucial event in this context is the “Statement by Korean Christians for Peace in Palestine-Israel”, which was adopted by the General Assembly of the NCCK on November 29, 2012. However, this statement should not stand alone. Initiated by the NCCK, a committee the so-called ‘Korean Christian Network for Peace in Palestine’ has been founded for this matter, engaged with the task to create awareness of the Palestine-Israel issue. In this solidarity network members of following organizations and associations are represented: NCCK, YWCA Korea, YMCA Korea, Asia Pacific Center for Integral Study of Life, Imagine Peace, Artizen amongst others. Already last year, during the ‘World Week for Peace in Palestine Israel’, the NCCK, in collaboration with the YMCA Korea, had organized a one -week seminar regarding the topic. Lecturers invited for that seminar were Ms. Faten Husari and Prof. Bae Hyun-Ju of the Presbyterian Theological Faculty in Busan. In ongoing plans, from end of May on, the Korean Christian Network for Peace in Palestine is arranging a program, which wants continue pursuing the aforementioned goals. One major events of this program will be a pilgrimage to Palestine and Israel from June 25 – July 6, which will be prepared with a seminar to be held on May 30. Apart from that the NCCK will host a symposium to approach the situation in Palestine from different angles. Therefore two brilliant minds have been invited to this particular event: one, Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb from Palestine, President of the Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan & the Holy Land and founder of the Diyar Consortium in Bethlehem. The other, Jewish-rooted Dr. Mark Braverman, in his capacity as co-founder of ‘Friends of Tent of Nations North America’ and serving on the Board of Directors of the ‘Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions-USA’. Alongside them we will listen to voices from the Korean-theological and feminist perspective. The symposium is going to take place in the week of June 10. In addition to the symposium our two guests will have the chance meet with Korea’s future church leaders as they will hold guest lectures at several theological faculties in Korea. This symposium is a matter of heart and faith. In spite of the differences of the situation on the Korean peninsula to the situation in Palestine, we still share the same wish for peace. In the name of the triune God and as sisters and brothers in faith we want to give this wish a voice.

- 쌍용차 대한문 분향소 폭력철거 및 강제연행 규탄 기독교계 기자회견 * 일시 : 2013년 4월 8일 (월) 오전 10시 30분 * 장소 : 대한문 앞 < 기자회견 순서 > * 사회 : 홍윤경 (영등포산업선교회 노동선교부장) - 여는 발언 : 김영주 목사 (NCCK 총무, 쌍용차 범국민대책위 공동대표) - 경과 보고 : 이슬이 (한기연 연합회장) - 규탄 발언 (1) : 최헌국 목사 (예수살기 총무) - 규탄 발언 (2) : 정태효 목사 (목정평 공동의장) - 규탄 발언 (3) : 참가자 중 - 기자회견문 낭독 : 손은정 목사 (기사련 노동위원장, 영등포산업선교회 총무) < 기자회견문 > 야만적 대한문 분향소 폭력철거와 불법연행에 대해 사과와 원상회복하고 쌍용차 사태 즉각 해결하라 !! 한국 기독교는 늘 사회적 약자의 아픔에 동참하며 그들의 고통을 나누는 것이 예수 그리스도의 가르침이라고 고백해왔다. 고통의 현장에, 억울함의 현장에, 소외된 현장에 늘 함께 하며 그들의 고통과 억울함에 한 목소리로 동참하여 왔다. 자본의 논리에 밀려 사람보다 돈이 더 대접받는 사회에서 어느 날 갑자기 억울하게 해고되어 길거리로 내몰린 노동자들, 갑작스러운 사태에 어찌할 줄 모르다 스스로 목숨을 끊은 사람들의 아픔은 우리 사회와 한국 기독교가 끌어안아야 할 아픔이다. 그런데 지난 4월 4일 새벽, 서울시내 한복판인 대한문 앞에서는 있어서는 안 될 일들이 일어났다. 해도 뜨기 전인 5시50분부터 아무런 예고도 없이 무방비 상태에서 잠들어 있던 노동자들의 팔다리를 꺾어 바닥으로 내동댕이 친 후 순식간에 분향소를 철거하고 농성물품을 강탈했다. 그리고 어처구니없게도 그 자리에 화단을 설치하면서 이에 항의하는 노동자들과 시민들을 무차별적으로 연행했다. 그 후 4월 6일까지 3일 동안 매일같이 침탈과 연행이 반복되어 무려 52명이 연행되는 기가 막힌 일이 벌어졌다. 서울 중구청과 경찰의 합동작전으로 펼쳐진 이 폭력적이고 무자비한 만행은 반인권, 비인간, 야만적인 폭거로서 지탄받아 마땅하며, 우리 기독교인들도 경악과 분노를 금치 못한다. 대한문 분향소는 무엇인가? 더 이상 죽어가는 동료들을 두고 볼 수 없어 함.께.살.자.를 외치며 눈물로 세웠던 분향소가 아니던가? 일터에서 쫓겨나고, 사회에서도 외면당한 채 더 이상 갈 곳 없어 죽음으로 내몰리던 쌍용차 해고 노동자들이 마지막 보루로 선택한 곳, 차디찬 땅바닥이었지만 지나가다 빵 한조각 분향소에 올려주는 시민들이 있어 그나마 외로움과 억울함을 달랠 수 있었던 곳이다. 그런데 국가권력은 갈 곳 없는 노동자들의 최후의 피난처마저 빼앗아버렸다. 그렇다면 노동자들을 다시 죽음의 행렬로 몰아넣겠다는 것인가? 하물며 화단 때문에 노동자들을 내 몰다니, 노동자들이 화단 만도 못하단 말인가? 정말 생각할수록 섬뜩하지 않을 수 없다. 화단에도 밀려난 노동자들은 대체 어디로 가란 말인가? 4월 5일은 마침 대한문에 분향소를 설치한 지 딱 1년이 되는 날이다. 지난 1년 동안 대한문 분향소에는 많은 일들이 있었다. 작년에 치뤄진 총선, 대선을 앞두고 많은 후보들이 다녀가기도 했고, 박원순 서울시장이 하버드대 샌델 교수와 함께 다녀가기도 했다. 그러면서 쌍용차 문제 해결에 대한 여러 말들이 난무했으나 이루어진 것은 없었다. 9월 국회 청문회에서 사측의 회계조작 의혹이 사실로 밝혀졌는데도 후속조치가 이루어지지 않아 김정우 지부장이 41일 동안 목숨을 건 단식을 한 곳이기도 하다. 김정우 지부장이 쓰러져 병원으로 실려가고, 3명의 해고 노동자가 15만 볼트의 전류가 흐르는 평택 공장 앞 송전탑에 올라간 작년 말, 여야를 막론하고 대선 주자들은 대선 후 국정조사 실시와 쌍용차 문제 해결을 약속했다. 그러나 그 약속은 산산조각이 났고 약속 파기에 대한 책임은 아무도 지지 않고 있으며, 송전탑 위의 노동자들은 5개월이 다 되도록 죽음을 각오한 고공농성을 계속하고 있다. 쌍용차 해고 노동자들의 문제는 한 사업장의 문제가 아니라 전 사회적인 문제가 된 지 오래다. 외국자본의 먹튀, 회계조작에 의한 무리한 정리해고, 함.께.살.자.는 노동자들의 정당한 파업에 대한 불법적인 폭력진압, 그러나 무엇보다도 노동자들의 연이은 죽음이 정리해고 문제의 심각성을 사회에 알렸고, 설문조사에 의하면 대다수 국민들도 국정조사와 해고자 복직이 이루어져야 한다고 생각하고 있다. 그러므로 국가권력은 농성장을 철거하는 데 힘을 쏟을 것이 아니라 하루빨리 진상 규명, 책임자 처벌, 해고자 복직 등 근본적인 사태해결에 나서야 한다. 1970~80년대 민주화운동으로 군부독재 타도와 인권운동에 앞장선 한국기독교교회협의회, 그리고 노동운동과 민주화운동의 성지로 지정된 영등포산업선교회를 포함한 우리 기독교인들은 1년에 두차례 진행하는 “고난 받는 이들과 함께 하는 성탄절 / 부활절 연합예배”를 최근 모두 이 곳 대한문에서 드렸다. 그리고 지난 1년간 여러 기독단체와 교회들이 이 곳에서 수십 차례의 기도회를 하며 고난당하는 노동자들과 함께 해 왔다. 그런데 4월 4일의 불법, 폭력, 야만적인 무차별 연행 과정에서 기독교 성직자들까지도 강제적으로 연행되었다. 고난의 현장에서 노동자들의 아픔에 동참하고자 했던 종교적 신앙과 목회 활동까지 공권력에 의해 짓밟힌 것이다. 이것은 종교에 대한 부당한 탄압이며, 종교적 신앙을 국가가 위협하는 일이기에 우리는 분노한다. 가장 낮은 곳으로 오셔서 약한 자들의 친구가 되어 주셨던 예수 그리스도를 따르는 우리 기독교인들은 국가권력이 힘 없는 노동자들을 억압하고 죽음으로 내 모는 것을 더 이상 좌시하지 않을 것이며, 기독교계 전체 차원에서 적극적으로 대응할 것임을 분명히 밝힌다. 또한 종교 행위 탄압에 대해서도 결코 묵과하지 않을 것이다. 마지막으로 국정조사 실시, 해고자 복직 등 쌍용차 문제에 대한 근본적인 해결만이 이처럼 불행한 사태를 막고 재발을 방지하는 가장 좋은 길이라는 당연한 사실을 다시 한 번 주지시키며 다음 사항을 요구한다. - 서울 중구청은 대한문 분향소 폭력철거에 대해 사과하고 즉각 원상회복하라! - 경찰은 성직자를 포함한 무차별 연행에 대해 사과하고 남은 연행자를 즉각 석방하라! - 정부와 국회는 쌍용차 국정조사와 해고자 복직 등 쌍용차 사태를 즉각 해결하라! 2013년 4월 8일 노동자 생명 지키기 기독교 시국회의 (기독교사회선교연대회의, 영등포산업선교회, 예수살기, 오산이주노동자센터, 일하는예수회, 전국목회자정의평화실천협의회, 촛불교회, 한국기독교교회협의회(NCCK) 정의평화위원회, 한국기독청년학생연합)

- Moscow Visit
- MOSCOW VISIT In February a team from the NCCK paid a visit to Moscow, where a couple of meetings with Russian Orthodox Church officials were held. The visit was an opportunity to strengthen friendly relationships and continue the inter-Christian and Russian-Korean dialogue. During the trip the delegation had an opportunity to visit Sergiev Posad (Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius), where 10 years ago the NCCK donated equipment for the publishing house. The local monks gave a tour, told about history of the Lavra, and even let the members climb the bell tower (which is not open for everyone), where we could see the biggest 74- ton bell. The team met with nuns at a women’s monastery, where a special center for disabled children is located, and visited the facilities and rooms with special equipment. The center also specializes in providing help for young mothers, where they can find shelter and have all the medical help they require. The delegation also met with the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox, Kirill I. His Excellency highlighted the long and good friendship between the ROC and Christians in South Korea, in particularly in the cooperation in Tozanso process under the aegis of WCC. The Patriarch underlined the importance of peaceful unification of Korea which is why the Peace Train project and the WCC 10th General Assembly in Busan were considered as good steps and opportunities towards reconciliation. The head of the Orthodox Church expressed his support of both events and wished good organization. The working group met with Margarita Nelyubova, the main Peace Train coordinator in Moscow. Many details were discussed, the most important being the facilitation of the Peace Train Project to the Russian government. Russian side agreed to send its representatives to certain governmental bodies to present Peace Train. The ROC also expressed support with a simplified visa procedure and agreed to contact the Irkutsk diocese to elicit its cooperation and peace Madang. Following is part of Patriarch Kirill’s address: I would like to say that Russia and Korea are connected by very cordial and long relationships. It is very important for us that Orthodoxy in Korea and the birth of Orthodox Church in Korea are connected with the missionary efforts of the Russian Orthodox Church. In Seoul, as well as in other cities of Korea, there are many Russian Orthodox temples, which are visited not only by Russians but also Korean Orthodox Christians. Because of ‘political’ reasons, the presence of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Korea after WWII became impossible. There are many Orthodox believers in Seoul, who are citizens of Russia and other countries, where the Russian Orthodox Church is serving. Since 2000 the care about these Orthodox people as well as about Korean Orthodox Christians was done by Father Superior Feofan Kim, who became a bishop in 2011 and now is serving in the Republic of Tyva (Russian Federation). Father Feofan Kim was serving in the temple which belongs to the Constantinople Patriarch jurisdiction in Seoul, under the supervision of Constantinople Bishop. In 2006 I personally (at that time still as a metropolitan) blessed the Trinity Church in Pyongyang, North Korea. We continue to help Orthodox Christians in Pyongyang and support that temple, where regular masses take place in Slavonic and Korean languages. Russian Orthodox Church and South Korean Churches are connected by many years of good cooperation. Our Church was an active participant of the movement for Unification of North and South Korea, the so-called Tozanso Process, which started in 1984 under the aegis of the World Council of Churches. During the years of the Cold War, where direct communication between the USSR and South Korea was difficult, Christians from Soviet Union and Christians from South Korea were meeting each other at the WCC events. In a time of very negative political context (there were no diplomatic relationships; there was a lot of mutual negative propaganda) we still had good and sincere relationships with the representatives of the Korean Churches. And this brotherly cooperation, above strong and difficult political conflicts and borders, I think, left only good memories in the hearts of those who participated in all those events. I personally belong to those people, who took part in building those relationships. And with the big gratitude to God I recall all those good memories about South Korean Christians. In the 90s when the political situation changed, and Russia became open to the world, our connections went on rather successfully. The 90s were the years of deep economic, political and social crisis in Russia, connected with the change of the political system, new system of governing the economy, and our church was in a very tough financial situation. But nevertheless, those years became new doors of possibilities for missions and evangelization. In particular we got the opportunities for a vast publishing activity. And I would like to mention once again a kind move of South Korean Christians, who helped us in that time with equipment for the publishing house in the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. We started to print the Bible, the books of Old and New Testament and other books, which were very important for our people in that time and had an important missionary value. We continue our dialogue with South Korea on the Church level through the frame “Russia – Republic of Korea”. This dialogue facilities the development of diplomatic, juridical and humanitarian contacts between our countries. We have supported in the past and we will continue to support the efforts of Korean Christians for Reconciliation of Korea. We know that the dialogue between the North and South is not an easy one, but we are sure, that with God’s help all these obstacles can be overcome. History teaches us that sometimes miracles happen instantly. That happened with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the restoration of contacts between East and West, including full-fledged contacts among Christians. Concerning this, I would like to say that your project “Peace Train”, which is supposed to be carried out before the WCC 10th Assembly in Busan is one more contribution to reconciliation between North and South and reconciliation between Korean people. Partially the route of the train will go through Russian Federation, and I hope that together with the department of foreign affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church, those who are responsible for this project will be able to prepare some mutual valuable events.

- During March the print publicity for the Peace Train was sent out to 900 churches throughout the world. NCCK and the Korean Assembly Host Committee are looking forward to those who will apply to participate in this extraordinary event. This holy trip of peace will start with programs at Berlin beginnning Oct. 6, travel through Moscow where programs will take place Oct. 10-12, and Beijing with programs Oct. 22-24.
