NCCK Justice and Peace committee says, "Minimum

 Wage 10,000won, now! "

The Justice and Peace committee of the National Council of Churches of Korea (chairperson Rev. Nam Jae Yoon) issued the statement titled, "10,000won for minimum wage, now". In South Korea, the government decides the national hourly minimum wage every year. The statement was issued at the time limit of the government decision regarding the minimum wage for 2019, which was 29th of June, 2018. The price of the commodities continues to increase in South Korea but not incomes. 10,000 won is about 8.9 US dollars, and the present minimum wage is 6,470 won.

"Increasing the minimum wage to 10,000 wons is the first step for human life to preserve its dignity."

Through this statement, the NCCK has pointed out the rampant economic imbalance and the polarization in this country. Increasing the minimum wage to 10,000won is the first step for human life to preserve its dignity. They are not the only ones who can afford to pay for their jobs. They are the only ones who can afford it. I do not know what to do. "" I do not want to pay for it. "

Newly elected President Moon Jae-in promised to increase minimum wage to 10,000 won by 2020. However, the NCCK is maintained at that time.

The South Korean government has decided to increase the minimum wage for 2019 to an additional 1,060 won per hour, and it is only a 16.4% increase compare to the rate of 2018. 1,060 won is the biggest hike and 16.4% is the 4th highest since the the government decided on a national minimum wage in 1988. NCCK asked for 10,000 won for 2019, and they will continue to demand justice and a better future for the young workers.
