The National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) held a meeting with a delegation of the World Council of Churches (WCC) at the NCCK offices on October 17th, at 1:00 p.m. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the result of the WCC delegation visiting North Korea and a 2015 international consultation which will be organized in partnership with the WCC, the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA), the NCCK, and the Korean Christian Federation (KCF).
Regarding the WCC visit to the KCF in Pyongyang, one member of the Methodist Church in Britain and two staff of the WCC visited Pyongyang on October 10th-13th. They met Rev. Kang Myung Chul and the staff of the KCF, and went to Bongsu Church, Chilgol Church, Bongsu Bread Factory, Family Church, and the theological seminary of the KCF. The WCC talked about building a center for social service with the KCF, and they will gradually discuss this issue with each other. Notably, they talked about the possibility of the international consultation being held in 2015. They focused on finding an appropriate time and location.
When the WCC delegation came to Seoul they shared this discussion regarding the consultation with the NCCK. The NCCK agreed to come up with a proposal for the date, venue, theme, and schedule of events for the consultation. The NCCK will share their suggestions for the conference with the WCC and the KCF, and the KCF will also submit proposals for negotiation. Above all, the theme, location and date of the conference should be confirmed as soon as possible.
