chairperson for the quincentenary of the Reformation.

The special committee for the quincentenary commemoration of the Reformation decided on the first special committee congress, held in August 21, the Lutheran president Kim Cheol Whan as chairperson, Rev. Kim Joo Han(PROK), Officer Lee Deok Joong(Salvation Army), Rev. Lee Seung Yeol(PCK) as Vice-chairman. One female vice-chairman afterward. Their term will be until the General Meeting in 2017.

A basic direction) for the quincentenary commemoration of the Reformation was also discussed that day.

It was decided to deeply debate about theological discussion to rediscover the meaning of the Reformation and sociologist’s point of view of the Reformation and Korean Church. The committee decided to make a declaration statement for reformation.

Besides, reinforcement of dialogues between denominations and theologian exchange for unity in diversity and a combined campaign will be planned.

Taking the ‘Church Day’ of Germany as a role model to host the ‘Korea’s Christian Day’ is remarkable. This ‘Korea’s Christian Day’ will become an interdenominational event where layperson will be the main agents. The purposes are to experience one church in Jesus Christ beyond denomination through solidarity and cooperation of the laity and the creation and propagation of Christian culture.

This event is planned in middle of June in 2017 and is considered not only as the quincentenary commemoration of the Reformation but also as a persisting event every 2 to 3 years.

The venue of this ‘Korea’s Christian Day’ event will not be hold at one place. It will go around considered by natural environment, traffic conditions and historical and cultural places of Korea. So it is expected that this event will also contribute to the local community.
