Greetings from General Secretary
Dear friends of the global church
I wish you the deepest blessings of the New Year. Of course, the calendar New Year took place on Jan. 1, and so we have been able to say 새해 복많이 받으세요 for a while now, but for us in Korea, the real New Year to us is the Lunar New Year, (설날/Seolal) which takes place this year on the 30th and 31st of Jan. and Feb. 1. At that time we gather with our families and give thanks for our ancestors and the life that is ours.
During January the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was held. The ecumenical worship is a very special one, with gathering of all the Christian traditions, Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant. This year the NCCK service was held at Mokmin PCK Church, and was a good celebration. Each group was asked to bring a symbol which represents their faith and work. On behalf of the NCCK, I presented the cross with a wreath of flowers, to represent the salvation that is ours in Christ, and also both the suffering that Christians have experienced and the new life which arises from it as we are faithful.
NCCK continues to process the information and the experiences that came out of the 10th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches. I think our departments have all completed the work of bringing to conclusion the financial details related to this time.
I commend to you the stories of the work of our departments that are included in these pages.
Yours in faith and partnership
Kim Young Ju, General Secretary. |
