[Christmas 2013] Greetings from the General Secretary
“Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness”, James 3:18.
As we approach the holy time of Christmas, celebrating the coming of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, I send warm greetings from NCCK to all of our friends around the world. I feel particularly close to you this year, for I have met so many from around the world, as the members of the WCC 10th General Assembly gathered in Busan. I certainly feel that we have become closer as the family of Jesus Christ, and so I thank you for your presence in our country of Korea. You were able to hear many of our stories, witness to our desires for peaceful reunification of our one peninsula, and take part in our customs. We Koreans are grateful for the support that came for our resolution on Peace and Reunification. We also celebrate all the people who witnessed to peace through the Peace Train project. It was, however, our sorrow and shame that our North Korean Christian colleagues were not able to attend the Busan Assembly. We pray daily for them and hope soon to be able to make a visit to Pyongyang to greet the KCF and deliver humanitarian aid to those who suffer.
Hardly had people begun returning to their homes when the Super Typhoon hit the Philippines. We in Korea also pray and reach out in support to NCCP and all our brothers and sisters in that country for recovery and rebuilding.
In 2014 the NCCK celebrates its 90th anniversary. We thank God for the blessings we have experienced as we have grown and served this country’s people through many times of hardship. We will invite you to celebrate with us, and to help us to lay a foundation for a strong future in Jesus Christ.
With best wishes for Christmas and New Year season filled with the love and peace of God.
Kim Young Ju
General Secretary
