We come to you seeking your favor in bringing peace in the lives of the people especially in the Korean peninsula. Lord pour out your love and compassion on the people who are hurt by the separation through the war. God of justice, equality and truth, we seek you will honour all efforts and initiatives for peace in the context of divided Korea. Many nations have contributed to Korea´s division through war since 1950 and today, we come together as churches and missions from many nations and people of all ethnicity and cultures but united in faith. We seek to affirm your covenant of peace and pray your Spirit will influence leadership of those in power and decision making to see and hear the cry and mourning of the nations separated by powers and help build bridges of harmony for a unified peninsula. Creator God, we believe that you are the initiator of peace and the epitome of love. Just like you miraculously united Germany 30 years ago, may your peace descend on the people in the Korean peninsula. God of reconciliation help us to convert every conversation and negotiation as an opportunity for acclaiming peace. In Matthew 5:9 you say ´Blessed are the peacemakers for they are called the children of God` - we want to represent you as the God of peace. Lord, despite your calling for us to become messengers of your peace, we have often misused the end goal of peace to promote and justify violence in the process. –Please forgive us our sins! We confess to you, Lord, that we cannot make peace by our own will, by our own power, or by our own efforts. It’s been over 70 years since the division of Korea. Our peninsula has suffered from deeply engrained doubt, fear, and anxiety. How long, Lord, are we to live with this pain of the ongoing Korean War? Yet, because of you Lord, we can hope! We pray! 2020 Peace Prayer Movement (Light of Peace) A Declaration for the People’s Korea Peace Agreement: * Korean (Above) - English (Below) 7월 4주 특별선언 '민(民)의 한반도 평화협정 선언문' 1950년 발발한 한국전쟁은 수백만의 생명을 희생시켰고 한반도 산천을 폐허로 만들었다. 1953년의 정전협정은 끝내 평화협정으로 이어지지 못했고, 참혹한 재앙을 불러온 대결로 남북 간 장벽이 공고해졌으며, 이로 인해 남북, 북미 간 갈등과 군사적 대결이 증폭되어 왔다. 생명을 위협하는 소모적 갈등과 군사대결을 끝내기 위한 첫걸음은 한국전쟁 종전과 평화협정체결이다. 이는 시민의 안전을 보장하는 항구적 평화로 가는 길이며 동북아와 세계의 공존과 공영에 대해서도 희망의 빛을 던져줄 것이다. 이에 대한 확신으로 한국의 시민사회는 평화협정 체결을 촉구하는 캠페인을 한국과 미국을 비롯한 이웃 여러 나라들에서 벌여 왔고, 전 세계의 평화를 염원하는 시민들도 지지와 연대를 보내왔다. 이러한 노력은 끝나지 않은 냉전의 벽을 허물고 상생과 평화의 새 규범 위에 생명공동체의 새로운 지평을 열자는 요구이며 응답이다. 이에 우리는 한국전쟁의 종식과‘민의 한반도 평화협정’을 선언한다. 정치 군사적 이권에 연루된 이들이 기득권을 지키기 위해 평화를 향한 민중의 열망을 외면하기에 민이 스스로 바꾸어 내고자 하는 것이다. 전쟁 지속의 다른 이름인 ‘정전’체제의, 지난한 폭력과 수난의 세월을 끝내기 위해 마땅히 누려야 할 평화를 민이 선언하는 것이다. 한반도의 분단으로 이득을 취하려는 이들이 갖가지 구실로 분단의 영속화를 도모하기에, 민이 스스로 분단을 넘어 통일로 나아가려는 것이다. 이는 70년 동안 저마다 몸에 새겨진 상흔과 가슴에 고인 눈물과 대동평화 세상에 대한 갈망이 터뜨리는 함성이다. 전쟁 발발 70주년에 선언하는 민의 평화협정은 정전협정 체결 후 70주년이 되는 2023년 7월 27일 이전에 한국전쟁의 완전한 종식과 한반도와 동북아의 항구적인 평화 구축을 위한 법적 제도적 기반이 될 평화협정으로 거듭나야 한다. 관계국들은 지금 선언하는 ‘민의 평화협정’ 원칙과 내용을 반영하여 조속히 협상을 시작하기 바라며, 그 내용을 다음과 같이 밝힌다. 평화협정의 기본원칙 정전협정 서명 당사자와 교전 당사자인, 대한민국(한국), 조선민주주의인민공화국(조선), 중화인민공화국(중국), 그리고 미합중국(미국)은 한국전쟁의 완전한 종식과 한반도에서 항구적이고 지속가능한 평화를 구축하기 위하여 한반도 평화협정을 체결 한다. 협정 당사국들은 국제연합 헌장을 준수하고, 한반도 평화와 통일에 관한 기존 합의들을 존중하고, 남과 북의 평화와 통일을 위한 노력을 지지하고, 세계평화에 기여하며, 체결하는 평화협정을 성실하게 이행해야 한다. 한반도 평화협정은 남북, 북미 정상이 채택한 판문점선언과 평양공동선언, 싱가포르 공동성명에 따라, 당사국 간 관계 개선과 신뢰에 바탕을 두고 한반도 평화체제 구축과 완전한 비핵화를 동시적‧단계적으로 실현하는 과정을 포함하여 체결되어야 한다. 한반도 평화협정에 다음의 내용을 포함한다. 평화협정의 발효와 함께 한국전쟁을 완전히 종식한다. 한국과 조선은 ‘군사정전에 관한 협정’에 규정된 군사분계선을 경계선으로 하고, 정전협정에 규정되지 않은 경계선은 양 국이 합의하여 정한다. 한국과 조선은 기존 비무장지대를 평화생태지대로 전환한다. 당사국들 / 한국과 조선, 조선과 미국은 어떠한 경우에도 공격 위협을 가하지 않고 무력을 행사하지 않는다. 조선과 미국은 국교를 정상화하고, 비방, 압박, 제재를 중단한다. 당사국들은 각각 평화협정에 저촉되는 적대적 국내법을 개정하거나 폐기한다. 한국과 조선은 전면적인 정치·군사적 신뢰 조성을 위해 기존의 합의를 이행하고 이를 뒷받침할 상설 고위급회담을 운영한다. 한국과 조선은 상호 군비를 축소한다. 이를 위해 군사공동위원회를 운영한다. 조선은 핵무기를 폐기하고 한국과 미국은 핵우산을 폐기한다. 당사국들은 한반도에서 핵무기와 핵위협이 될 일체의 군사적, 기술적 조치를 금지한다. 평화협정의 발효와 함께 유엔사를 해체하고, 외국군은 단계적으로 철수한다. 이 평화협정을 이행하기 위한 한국조선 평화관리 공동위원회와 당사국조정위원회를 각각 구성하고 운영한다. 당사국들은 이 평화협정의 이행을 촉진할 국제평화감시단을 구성하고 운영한다. 한반도 평화체제는 민의 참여에 기반하여 The 1953 Armistice Agreement led not to a peace agreement. Thereafter, the disastrous confrontation settled into a consolidation of the barrier between the two Koreas, which has amplified conflicts and military confrontations between the two Koreas and between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States of America (USA). Ending the Korean War and concluding a peace agreement must be the first step toward ending this conflict and the military confrontation which threatens life on the Korean Peninsula. This is the path to a permanent peace that guarantees the safety of the people. This will also shine a ray of hope on those dreaming of co-existence and the co-prosperity of Northeast Asia and the world. Assured of this, Korean civil society has campaigned not only in Korea but also in the United States of America and other neighboring countries to urge for the conclusion of a peace agreement. People around the world have also sent support and pledged solidarity with this struggle. These efforts constitute a response to the demands for breaking down the walls of the unending Cold War and opening a new horizon for a community of life based on the new standards of co-prosperity and peace. Therefore, we declare an end to the Korean War and proclaim a 'People's Korea Peace Agreement' (hereafter People’s Peace Agreement). As those connected to the political and military power centers turn a blind eye to the people's longing for peace, protecting their own vested interests, the people will seek transformation themselves. This is a declaration that the people deserve an end to the years of excessive violence and hardship, an end to the unending war now in the form of the Armistice System, and that the people deserve to enjoy peace. While those who want to benefit from the division of the Korean Peninsula attempt to perpetuate the division under various pretexts, the people themselves are trying to move beyond division to reunification. This is the amalgamation of the scars engraved upon our bodies for 70 years, the overflow of tears within our hearts, and it is the cry bursting out of a longing for a world of peace. The People's Peace Agreement, declared on the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the war, should turn into an (official) peace agreement (hereafter: Peace Agreement) that shall be concluded by the contracting parties before July 27th, 2023, the 70th anniversary of the Armistice Agreement. This Peace Agreement will be a legal and institutional basis for the complete end to the Korean War and the establishment of lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and throughout Northeast Asia. Now we urge the concerned countries to start negotiations as soon as possible, reflecting the following principles and contents of the People’s Peace Agreement: Basic Principles of the People's Korea Peace Agreement The signatory parties to the Armistice Agreement, the Republic of Korea (ROK), the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the People's Republic of China (China), and the United States of America (USA) sign the Peace Agreement on the Korean Peninsula to achieve a complete end to the Korean War and a permanent and sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula. The contracting parties to the Peace Agreement should abide by the Charter of the United Nations, respect existing (inter-Korean) agreements on peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula, support efforts for peace and reunification between the South and the North, contribute to world peace, and faithfully implement the contents of the Peace Agreement. The Peace Agreement should be signed in accordance with the Panmunjom Declaration, the Pyongyang Joint Declaration, and the Singapore Joint Statement adopted between the leaders of the two Koreas and between the DPRK and USA, and should include the process of simultaneously implementing a step-by-step realization of a peace regime and complete denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula based on improved relations and trust between the parties. The Peace Agreement on the Korean Peninsula includes the following: The contracting parties shall completely end the Korean War with the effectuation of the Peace Agreement. The military demarcation line stipulated in the ‘Armistice Agreement’ shall be the boundary line between the ROK and the DPRK, and the boundaries not stipulated in the Armistice Agreement shall be determined by agreement between the two Koreas. The ROK and the DPRK shall convert the existing Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) into a peaceful ecological zone. Between the parties to the Peace Agreement, there shall be no threat of attack or use of force under any circumstances; neither between the DPRK and the ROK, nor between the DPRK and the USA. The DPRK and the USA shall normalize diplomatic relations and stop slander, pressure, and sanctions. Each contracting party shall amend or repeal hostile domestic laws which are contrary to the Peace Agreement. The ROK and the DPRK shall implement the existing agreements and form and operate permanent high-level talks to support those agreements in order to create overall political and military trust. The ROK and the DPRK shall mutually reduce their military spending. To that end, they shall form and operate a joint inter-Korean military committee. The DPRK shall dismantle its nuclear weapons, and the ROK and the USA shall remove its nuclear umbrella from the Korean Peninsula. The contracting parties shall ban all military and technical actions that could pose a nuclear threat to the Korean Peninsula. At the time of the effectuation of the Peace Agreement, the UN Command shall be dismantled and foreign troops withdrawn in a step by step process. To implement the Peace Agreement, an Inter-Korean Joint Committee for Peace Management and a Coordination Committee for Contracting Parties shall be organized and operated respectively. The contracting parties shall organize and operate an International Peace Watch Group to facilitate the implementation of the Peace Agreement. A peace regime on the Korean Peninsula should be promoted based on the participation of the people. We will use every endeavor to realize this declaration. 2020 Peace Prayer Movement (Light of Peace) Witness #5: * Korean (Above) - English (Below) 7월 2주 증언 5 -박경서 회장, 대한 적십자사 남북 이산 가족 상봉과 대한 적십자사 우리는 지난 4월 27일을 남북 정상의 합의하에 이루어진 판문점 선언 2주년을 맞는 날이었음을 잘 기억하고 있습니다. 이 역사적인 선언은 한반도 평화 프로세스라는 거대한 계획으로 추진되고 있습니다. 대한적십자사는 말할 것도 없이 이 계획과 같이 움직이고 있습니다. 한반도에 전쟁과 핵이 없는 평화공존시대의 실현은 바로 150여년의 긴 역사를 갖고 있는 적십자 운동의 인도주의 철학과 일치하기 때문입니다. 이 선언의 후속 조치로 남과 북은 제21차 이산가족 상봉 프로그램을 2년 10개월 만에 금강산 해금강 호텔에서 남북 총 833명의 가족의 상봉으로 이루어졌습니다. 이 눈물로 범벅이 된 만남은 이 기간 중 5번의 남북 적십자회담을 성사시켰고 많은 합의를 했습니다. 2018년 8월 22이부터 28일까지 사이의 상봉은 다음을 기약하고 성공리에 마무리 되었습니다. 우리 모두의 바램과 달리 한반도 비핵화의 문제 유엔의 제재 등으로 남북의 모든 문제가 얼어 붓게 되었고 판문점 선언 2주년을 맞아 정부는 다시 재가동의 꿈을 내외에 선포하였습니다. 그래서 이산가족 상봉의 재개가 다시 실현되리라 확신하면서 이상봉의 그간의 발자취를 잠간 살펴보십시다. 남북 이산가족 문제는 분단 이후 현재까지, 한반도의 중요한 인도적인 현안입니다. 이산가족 교류의 특수성은 시간적인 제한성에 있습니다. 평화협력체계가 완전히 갖추어져 자연스레 이산가족 문제가 해결될 때까지 기다릴 수 있는 이산 1세대는 앞으로는 없을 것이기 때문입니다. 현재 북의 가족을 찾고자 신청하신 분들은 2020년 3월말 총 133,382명인데 이중 생존 51,837명에 불과합니다. 이처럼 이산가족1세대는 고령화와 사망률 증가가 특징인데 최근 몇 년간 사망자수를 보면 6년간 매년 평균 약 3,800명의 이산가족이 고인이 되었으며 누적사망자는 81,545명이며 80대 이상 비율이 65.6%에 달합니다. 처음으로 남북 이산가족 생사 확인이 이뤄진 때는 1957년 이었습니다. 대한적십자사는 1956년, ‘실향사민 실태조사’를 벌여 7,034명의 명단을 작성하였으며, 이를 국제적십자위원회를 통하여 이들의 생사확인을 요청하였고, 1957년 11월 북한적십자회는 이 중 337명의 생존자명단을 통보해왔습니다. 1970년대까지 이산가족문제 해결 과정에서의 성과는 남북 적십자 예비회담, 본회담 실무회의 개최(총 56회)를 통하여 5개항(주소·생사확인, 자유로운 방문· 상봉, 서신왕래, 재결합, 기타 인도적 해결 문제 등)의 남북회담 의제에 합의한 것입니다. 1980년대는 이산가족 해결을 위해 3차례 적십자본회담을 개최하는 등, 보다 진전된 모습을 보였습니다. 1985년 남북적십자회담 합의에 따라 남한에서 30가구 51명이, 북한에서 35가구 41명이 교환방문하는 이산가족 고향방문과 예술 공연단 교환방문이 성사되었습니다. 이후 1993년 이후에는 이인모를 북측에 송환시켜주고 이산가족상봉에 관한 북측의 성의를 촉구하기도 하였습니다. 또한 대북포용정책을 추진하고 이산가족문제 해결을 최우선 과제로 삼았습니다. 공식적인 해결책을 마련하기 위한 노력으로 2000년 6.15남북공동선언과 제1차 남북적십자회담합의에 따라 당국차원의 교류가 재개되어 2015년까지 20차례 대면상봉행사와 7차례의 화상상봉이 이뤄졌습니다. 21차까지의 대면상봉 인원은 남과 북을 모두 합쳐 20,604명(4,290가족)이며 화상상봉 인원은 3,748(557가족)명입니다. 적십자사의 이산가족상봉을 위한 노력은 국제적십자운동 차원에서도 꾸준히 이어져왔습니다. 1952년 토론토, 1957년 뉴델리의 제19차 적십자회의, 1965년 비엔나의 제20차 국제적십자회의에서는 이산가족 문제해결에 대해 결의한 바 있으며, 가장 최근에 열린 2019년 제33차 국제적십자회의에서도 국제적십자운동의 가족 찾기 활동(RFL ; Restoring Family Links) 행동강령에 따른 결의문 제4호를 채택하였습니다. 이산가족문제는 최근 주춤하고 있으나 크게 보면 분명 더 큰 해결을 위한 기다림의 시간입니다. 그간의 노력과 성과가 완결되지 못하고 사라지는 것이 아니라, 우리는 이산가족 교류가 가지는 문화적․민족적 의미를 새롭게 발굴해 나가면서 이를 지속적으로 계승해 나가야 합니다. 남과 북은 하나의 민족, 평화, 생명공동체입니다. 분단으로 인한 이산의 아픔을 한반도 평화구축의 원동력으로 발전시켜나가는 것이 오늘을 사는 우리 모두의 임무일 것입니다. 지금도 대한 적십자사는 주위의 여건이 허락되면 즉각 실천 할 수 있도록 만반의 준비를 하고 있습니다. 대면 상봉 화상상봉 고향방문단 등등을 위한 모든 준비는 100% 완료된 상태입니다. 하루속히 상봉이 이루어 질 수 있기를 간절히 바랍니다. Witness 5 -Dr Kyung-seo Park, President of Korea Red Cross The Korean Red Cross Facilitating Inter-Korean Family Reunions 27 April, 2020 marks the 2nd anniversary of the 2018 Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity, and Reunification of the Korean Peninsula. The two sides of Korea agreed to resolve the humanitarian issues and to convene the inter-Korean Red Cross Meeting, including the reunion of separated families and relatives. Following the Panmunjom Declaration, the two Koreas held the inter-Korean Red Cross talks on 22 June 2018 at Mount Kumgang in order to organize the reunion of separated families and relatives. Following this, a reunion of 833 separated family members was held in August 2018 in the North’s scenic Mount Kumgang resort. It was the first such meeting since inter-Korean relations worsened in 2015. Contrary to our wishes, the inter-Korean relations have been stalled due to the issue of denuclearization and the US-led economic sanctions against North Korea. On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the historic Panmunjom Summit, the government of the Republic of Korea is seeking the most realistic and practical ways for North-South cooperation. In this regard, we hope that the reunion of separated families may be able to resume as soon as possible. The issue of separated families in North and South Korea has been the most prominent humanitarian issue on the Korean Peninsula since the division. But time is running out for the divided families. The average age of South Korean divided family members is 80 years old. More than 65.6 percent of the 133,382 applicants who applied to the Red Cross for family reunions have already passed away. Only 51,837 elderly people are still alive. In 1956, the Korean Red Cross conducted a survey on the separated families and made a list of 7,034 separated people. The Korean Red Cross requested a confirmation of who was still alive, in North Korea, through the International Committee of the Red Cross. The North Korean Red Cross reported a list of 337 survivors in 1957. Until the 1970s, the key achievement in the process of reuniting separated family members were the fifty-six preliminary meetings of the North-South Red Cross. The six essential activities were exchanges of address, life and death verifications, visits, reunions, exchanges of correspondence, reunification, and other humanitarian cooperation. In the 1980s, a significant progress was made in the reunion of separated families by the three meetings of the North-South Red Cross. In 1985, in accordance with the agreement between the North and South Korean Red Cross, 51 families from South Korea and 41 families from North Korea visited their hometowns, accompanied by art performance groups. After the repatriation of Lee In-Mo to North Korea in 1993, the Korean Red Cross has continued to urge the resumption of the reunion of separated families. In addition, the Korean Red Cross has embraced the policy of engagement with North Korea to promote the reunion of separated families as a top priority. The government-level exchange between the North and the South resumed in 2000, following the 15 June North-South Joint Declaration. In the context of the first inter-Korean Red Cross Conference, twenty face-to-face reunions, and seven virtual video reunions were held up from 2000 to 2015. The total number of people involved in the face-to-face reunions is 20,604 (4,290 families), and 3,748 (557 families) in the video reunion. The efforts of the Korean Red Cross to reunite separated families and relatives have continued on the international level by the International Red Cross by adopting resolutions on separated families in Toronto in 1952, the 19th Red Cross Conference in New Delhi in 1957, the 20th International Red Cross Conference in Vienna in 1965, and the 33rd International Red Cross Conference in Geneva in 2019. The reunions of separated families have been slowing down recently, but it is a time of waiting for a bigger step in the process of peace on the Korean Peninsula. We will continue to work for the reunion of separated families and to discover the cultural and historical meanings of the exchange of separated families. The South and the North are one nation. It is the mission for all of us today to transform the pain of separation into the driving force of peacebuilding on the Korean Peninsula. Even today, the Korean Red Cross is working in every possible way for the separated families to meet their family members as soon as possible. You have walked with your people from the moment that first we walked on the earth. You heard our cry when we were oppressed, gave us strength and courage when doubt and despair threatened. The earth has been divided and brought to destruction by human fear, greed and the lust for power. We, your people, turn to you knowing that only in you can we flourish and grow. Where division has given rise to distrust, build bridges of understanding. Where greed pollutes and threatens life, open hearts to share and build in partnership. God of the present moment, your love does not stop at borders. Your grace is given freely to those who are willing to hear and to trust. There is still an open wound from the division in this land. Once we were One, but we have been divided, And for decades we have lived blaming and hating each other. Ideology has created physical boundaries on this land, And it created an irreconcilable gap in the hearts of people. We are eaten up by the conflicts and divisions of this land, As those clinging to authority and power still survive, Thus blocking the path to peace. The tension on this Korean Peninsula rarely abates, And becomes a burdensome yoke the people of this land must bear. May the open wounds of division be healed, O God. Facing the 93rd anniversary of the 1919 Independence Movement, we remember our ancestors, who believed in the God of the Exodus and courageously rose up toward a future of life. With the sincere faith of conscience, and the hope of a joyful life for future generations, they declared this nation's right to life, freedom and independence, and they prayed for true peace in Northeast Asia and the world. But now at the start of the 21st century we witness, with worried and fearful hearts, that this beautiful peninsula is covered by the dark cloud of nuclear weapons and power plants. In this land where Rachel's lamenting over historical pains has not ceased, and where the scars of suffering and wrongful death have not healed, once again we see the shadow of death hanging over us. On the current world historical stage, North Korea has chosen nuclear weapons and South Korea has clung to nuclear energy. The Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia have become the world's most dangerous nuclear minefield, surrounded by nuclear weapons and nuclear power plants. O God, hear our prayers of lament and repentance! We lament the foolishness of humanity, which despite the experience of two world wars in the 20th century, is still caught in the vicious cycle of increasing wars and weaponry. We repent that human greed and selfishness has led us to pour astronomical amounts of money and resources into the arms race, even as countless children are starving to death in our global village. Awaken us to realize that our true security lies not in nuclear weapons but in trusting you and respecting our neighbors. O God, who watches the empires rise and fall! Grant wisdom to our governments and corporations, that they may turn away from their worship of the idol of unlimited economic growth, which makes the strong prey on the weak. May they instead choose the way of cosmic truth: the life of conviviality with all living beings, humans and nature. As we confess and repent of our sins of greed and consumerism in pursuit of nuclear power, grant us humble hearts and simple lives. Awaken us to know that true wealth is found not in the accumulation of material goods but in a creative, sharing life. May we learn that nuclear weapons and nuclear energy are not compatible with peace. Lead us to be free from nuclear preoccupation. Awaken us to know that our true strength is not in nuclear power but in love and justice. O God, hear our prayers! Grant us the courage to go through the narrow gate that leads to life, not the wide gate that leads to destruction (Mt 7:13-14). May we leave to our children not a painful and terrible heritage, but a life that uses natural energy from your created sun, wind and water. O God, lead us Korean Christians not to export nuclear power plants, an act that is contrary to your command of justice and love, but to live as your apostles of peace, teaching your life and peace. Remembering that on the cross our Lord shared the suffering of the nuclear radiation victims, and hoping that a new heaven and new earth of life and peace may be realized from Mount Halla in the south to Mount Paekdu in the north, throughout Northeast Asia and all the earth, we pray in the name of Christ Jesus. 2020 Peace Prayer Movement (Light of Peace) Prayer #40: * Korean (Above) - English (Below) 6월 5주 한반도 평화를 위한 기도 40 - 박예빈 어린이, 대림초등학교 “어린이들도 평화 통일이 기대돼요” 하나님, 글쎄 남과 북이 갈린 지도 벌써 70년이 다 되어간대요. 우리 엄마아빠 나이보다 더 오래 이 땅이 갈라져 있었다니 이제는 남과 북이 하나가 됐으면 좋겠어요. 하나님이 이 땅을 원래 하나로 만드셨으니 우리가 잘못한 것을 회개하고 하나의 민족, 하나의 형제자매로 얼싸안고 하나가 되게 해주세요. 그동안 서로에게 잘못한 건 용서하고 하나님이 주시는 평화를 깊이 깨닫게 해주세요. 저희는 어려서 할 수 있는 게 많지 않지만 모두가 행복해지는 사랑과 평화를 위해 기도할게요. 하나님, 한반도에 평화 통일을 속히 이루어주세요. 예수님 이름으로 간절히 기도합니다. 아멘. Prayer for Peace 40 - Yebin Park, Daelim Elementary School Lord, it has been 70 years since the division of the Korean Peninsula. The division is much older than the ages of my parents. I hope now the North and the South become one. God, I ask you to forgive us our sins of dividing this land that you made one. May we become one Korean nation as brothers and sisters! Help us to forgive and reconcile one another to realize the peace you give! I do not have much to do as I am young, but I ask you to provide us love and peace that make everyone happy. Lord, May the day come soon when the North and the South are peacefully united! We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Hikari Kokai Chang, Vice moderator, the National Christian Council in Japan and United Methodist Church clergy God of giving Life, We give you thanks for your most merciful grace; as a mother comforts her children, you care and love all of your children in the world. In such time as this when the unprecedented pandemic frightens us, you call us as your children into the shadow of your wings for comfort and healing so that we know you are our refuge; in you, we find peace and hope together. As we pray for your children--our sisters and brothers in the Korean peninsula, we come before you in humble spirits to confess our sins and ask your forgiveness. We have broken your heart by hurting our sisters and brothers. Our greed for power and self-serving interests have forced your children to live in separation and division for 70 years, and they are living in tears and pain still today. We have caused pain in your soul by disobeying your words. We gave our faith to armed powers and political ideologies instead of your promise of peace, and as a result, your children are living in fear and distrust of one another every day. God of redeeming life, Today we ask for courage, so that instead of denying or forgetting our sins, we may boldly confess and repent what we have done against you and your children. Today we ask for humility, so that we may seek your forgiveness for the brokenness of our relationships with one another in your Kingdom. Today we ask for compassion, so that we may stand in solidarity with those who have been wounded and disgraced, those who have suffered and mourned, those who are the most powerless among us all. God of renewing life, we pray: Grant us wisdom to live in reconciliation and unity among all your children. 2020 Peace Prayer Movement (Light of Peace) Prayer #38: * Korean (Above) - English (Below) 6월 5주 한반도 평화를 위한 기도 38 - 아부스 타키스빌라이난 목사, 대만기독장로교회 총회장 하늘에 계신 자비로우신 하나님, 남북한의 하나 됨을 위해 절박하게 기도합니다. 남북한의 지도자들이 과거의 분열과 적대를 위해 회개하는 기도를 드리며, 민간의 교류와 인도적인 협의를 통해 실질적인 평화가 이루어지기를 빕니다. 한국과 전 세계 그리스도인들의 기도를 통해, 새로운 평화의 계기를 보게 하여주시고. 남북 분열 70주년이 되는 이때, 남과 북이 화합을 위해 기도합니다. 수많은 민족과 국가의 그리스도인들이 함께 중보하고 기도하게 하여주소서. 하나님께서 남북한의 정세를 주장하여주시고, 더 많은 그리스도인이 온 땅에서 제단을 쌓아 무너진 성벽을 수축하게 하여주시고, 남북한의 고위 지도자들이 하나님께로 온 지혜로 말미암아 하나님의 뜻에 합한 결의를 하게 하시고, 하나님의 연민이 남북한에 임하여 관계가 회복되게 하소서. 마지막으로 당신의 자녀 모두가, “나를 하나님의 도구로 사용하셔서 평화를 형성하고, 증오가 있는 곳에 사랑을, 분열이 있는 곳에 단결을, 어두운 곳에 빛을 발하게 하여주소서”라고 고백하게 하소서. 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 거룩하신 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘! Prayer for Peace 38 - Rev. Abus Takisvilainan, Moderator, The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan Merciful God in heaven, we pray desperately for the two Koreas to become one. We pray that the leaders of the two Koreas repent for their past division and hostility, and hope that substantial peace will be achieved through civilian exchanges and humanitarian consultations. Through the prayers of Christians in Korea and around the world, let us see a new opportunity for peace. On the 70th anniversary of the division and war between the two Koreas, the South and the North are praying for harmony. Let the Christians of many peoples and nations take counsel together. May God lay claim to the situation of the two Koreas, and let more Christians build altars all over the land to shrink the crumbling walls, and let the high-ranking leaders of the two Koreas make a resolution in accordance with God's will with the wisdom that has come from God, so that the compassion of God may be restored to the two Koreas. Finally, let all your children confess, "Use me as a tool of God to make peace; where hatred exists, to sow love; where division exists, to unite; where there is darkness, to shine."
